“We rely on our customer and our customers rely on us,” says Brian Jackson, Sales Manager at D&R Feed, Inc. in Victor, Iowa. D&R Feed covers most of eastern Iowa, along with parts of Wisconsin and Missouri, servicing primarily beef and dairy producers. They carry a line of ADM Alliance products that includes WeatherMaster®, Endo-Fighter and ACT Performance Tubs. “Taking care of our customers is our main goal,” echoes D&R Feed owner Delmar Bayer. “That keeps us in business.” Taking care of customers at D&R means helping producers find the right feed at the right price. According to ADM Beef Specialist Dwight Lindley, that’s where D&R excels. “The folks at D&R support their customers by sharing information on new products and technology, as well as management advice and help with rations,” says Lindley.

“It’s this type of education and field support that today’s producer is looking for.” In addition to sharing their expertise, they actively participate in research projects and field product demo trials. To help producers meet the high costs of beef production today, D&R puts effort into operating as efficiently as possible, a savings they pass on to their customers. D&R has invested in larger flat-beds to consolidate deliveries, takes advantage of semi-lot buying opportunities, and they were one of the first feed dealers to build a commodity shed where they could mix feed to serve small and large customers. They sell bagged commodities to customers who can’t utilize a full truckload. The folks at D&R also deliver 1,000 tons per day of by-product from ag processing plants like ADM, Cargill, General Mills and Quaker Foods in nearby Cedar Rapids. “We’re glad to help support the beef business,” says Delmar. “There are a lot of opportunities out there for the producer who is willing to take advantage of them. We’re here to help them.”
