as judged in the 1998 World Championship Celebrity Show
Lieutenant Dunbar is the best of imported Chilean and domestic bloodlines
combined. Lt. Dunbar's sire, McRobert's Range Rover (pictured below),
is a full Chilean covered in black
and white 'suri-type' fiber. Range Rover is the son of probably the best
documented herd sire in the country, Kennel's Senor Rojo. He is the best
offspring of Don Juan Quixote, one of the best two bloodlines coming from
the 1984 importation. Lt. Dunbar's dam, Dioressence (pictured below),
is a daughter of the famed
Chulumani. The strength of this combination is that there are five or more
generations with very strong genetics for desirable traits. Among these
strongly propagated traits are fine single-fleeced fiber with wool retention,
a panoply of colors, sharply curved ears and a gentlemans disposition.
Lt. Dunbar's most outstanding feature is his incredible fiber. He is covered
from head to toe with a very lustrous single-fleeced
'suri-type' fiber. This is
a new trend in the llama market that has sold well at auction since 1997.
